We are a UK-based company situated near Salisbury, on the Hampshire-Wiltshire border, which undertakes electronic product design, development and manufacture. We are presently recruiting staff for the following positions:


Electronics Hardware Design Engineer

We are currently looking for a hardware engineer to join our growing team of electronics whizzes. The ideal person will be a dynamic team player who can also work independently. You will be self-motivated and an enthusiastic engineer. You should be respectful of others and keen to become part of a committed and lively team. You will get a buzz from working with fantastic clients to develop great products that make a positive impact on the world. In addition you will feel empowered to contribute fresh ideas to all projects as well as respecting those ideas suggested by your colleagues.

While your skills and experience will be predominantly in hardware design, demonstrable knowledge of embedded software will be a strong advantage. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to think creatively, manage projects and meet deadlines.
You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and managing your own projects
  • Communicating progress on your projects to the engineering team
  • Awareness of progress on all projects within the team and how these may impact upon you
  • Communicating requirements for your project in order to assist project resource planning

The skill set that you can either demonstrate or grow will include (but not be limited to):

  • Schematic design, capture and PCB layout using OrCad
  • Hands-on diagnosis of electronic circuits/boards
  • Analogue design - filters, control theory, etc
  • Digital design including VHDL
  • Micro-electronics
  • Power supply design
  • Documentation. For example: Requirement capture, specification procurement, build documentation, test procedures and plans
  • Reports
  • Direct client liaison
  • Supporting the production team
  • Embedded software development/design in C and (less often) ASM

Software Engineer

Electronics Production Engineer

We are currently looking for a highly motivated Electronics Production Engineer to provide technical support to our growing manufacturing team. The ideal person will have a good sounding in electronics design and test, but enjoy the variety and challenge of the manufacturing environment where no day is ever the same!

MLE manufacture a variety of products from simple commercial power supplies through to advanced medical surgical systems. Having the correct process to ensure product quality is paramount especially in a growing company. You will be expected to set and maintain the standard for production engineering.

We pride ourselves on working closely with our clients and prize the client relationship above all else. You must be able to present a professional and friendly face and resolve clients' issues quickly and efficiently.

You will be responsible for:

  • Fault finding to component level and resolving latent design issues (digital, analogue and power)
  • Designing and commissioning production test equipment
  • Writing and maintaining test procedures
  • Performing production readiness reviews (design for manufacture) and liaising with the design team
  • Writing manufacturing instructions
  • Liaising with clients and resolving quality issues
  • Implementing and managing good manufacturing procedures
  • Updating and maintain production documentation such as schematics, PCB layout (OrCAD), document drawing lists etc.
  • Providing technical support to the production staff and materials manager

Key skills:

  • Manufacture and test of switched mode PSUs, analogue and digital systems
  • Medical electronics manufacture (FDA)
  • An interest in electronics design
  • Enthusiastic and motivated
