MLE were highly commended in the Innovative Small Company category. The commendation was presented at an awards ceremony that took place at the Hilton, Park Lane, London on Friday 29th September 2006.
The awards judging processes saw MLE subjected to detailed questionnaires and a site visit from by an expert panel of judges who spent an entire day grilling the MLE team and learning more about the company and its design approach. Dr Marek Swejczewski, Director of the Innovation and Design Excellence Awards says,
'As soon as you enter the offices and talk to the people at MLE you can tell this is a small business with a difference. The company has a distinctive culture that is open and friendly. The people are passionate, proud of their work and keen to give the customer excellent support'.
The judges were impressed by MLE's plans to grow their turnover from £1 million to £5 million within the next 3 years. The company was spurred on to set this goal after double success in the recent Wiltshire Business of the Year awards, winning both the Dyson Award for Engineering and Virgin Mobile award for Best Business Culture. During their visit the iDEA panel was also very taken with MLE's unique approach to empowering its staff by encouraging them to work in cross-disciplined teams to develop different areas of the business and take ownership of changes happening within their workplace. This approach has an enormous impact on both MLE's business culture and its ability to deliver innovative electronics solutions to its clients.
